Cadiz

The first restaurant we visited in Cadiz was the closest place to where we were staying.
El Aljibe has really great value food and really slow service (even for Spain) but we went back a couple of times because the food was so good and CHEAP!

Paté al Pedro Ximénez

 Grouper stuffed with Prawns

Lunches were kept cheap so we could spoil ourselves with dinner, one night we had Acorn fed Jamon y Manchego at Meson Cumbres Mayores

We then popped across the road and had some seafood at Aurelio which is famous for its fresh Ortiguillas (get ready!)
They look normal enough
Hmmmm

Basically they are a deep fried cross between seaweed and a oyster. The small ones were bite size so you don't notice the consistency of the filling, the big ones however, you can see in the picture.

Deep fried Gambas (ate with the shell on)

Deep fried Anchovies (given to us by the chef after we'd eaten, really tasty!)

We had good fun there.

We had a wander around the Mercado Central, Spains oldest covered market which is full of seafood

Langostines

Caracoles (Snails)

Our last bar visit was at Casa Manteca, an amazing place with lots of thinly sliced meat to eat.
Chicharonnes and Mojama

Lomo de Cerdo (Pork Loin)

Chicharonnes (Pork Belly with Salt and a squeeze of Lemon)

One of my favourite places so far, thanks for the recommandation Carolina

Off to Madrid.
